Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan strongly criticized DMK MP TR Balu on Monday for labeling the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a 'political event.' Governor Soundararajan questioned the opposition's motives behind not attending the event, accusing them of politicizing what she deems a 'sacred festival.' Asserting that Tamil kings and emperors historically participated in temple construction and celebrations, the governor dismissed objections to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attendance at the ceremony as unjustified politicization.
Governor Soundararajan emphasized that the Ayodhya Ram Temple inauguration was a long-standing dream for many and cited historical instances of Tamil kings initiating temple construction and celebrations. She challenged DMK MP TR Balu's reservations, stating that using devotion for political reasons is against India's sovereignty and constitution.
Balu had earlier criticized the BJP, alleging that the event was a political ploy to divert attention from unfulfilled electoral promises. The Pranpratishtha ceremony, scheduled for January 22, has become a point of contention, with the governor accusing the opposition of unjustifiably objecting to a significant religious event.
